So today I realized while reading through the Etsy Teams forums for digital designers that not everyone knows how to unzip files. I have taken this for granted with many of my designs because they are simply too big to put up on Etsy without compressing the file to make it smaller without skimping on the quality of my work. I assumed that since I knew how to do this everyone did as well. So today I am going to teach you, step by step, how to unzip a file that you may have downloaded from my Etsy Shop.
Today’s lesson will cover how to unzip a file using Microsoft Windows as your operating system. I will put another How To for a Mac as the steps are very similar but some of the words and steps may be a little different.
So it has been a long time since my last blog post and I realized that I haven't said anything on here or anywhere really. I've been mostly quiet because I have felt that since I didn't have anything new to post that I would just keep quiet. Really so many things have been going on lately.
I've been fighting with MS Office for the past several weeks on this amazing design that I have a preview for up on my blog for destination weddings. I had to take a break it was giving me so many fits and making me want to throw my computer across the room or out of my apartment window. So then I went on and I designed some other things. Posted them. Tried to go back to the Passport Wedding invites I was working on, more epic fails from me. Took another break. Started working on new baby shower invitations. Got this amazing chalkboard invite done, fully designed, oh so beautiful. Oh yeah. Word gave me issues again.
Sometimes I really love how simple MS Word is for generic things, like oh it's purpose of writing text documents. But try to do something a little more complex? Yeah it hates me. It's an equally hateful relationship though because I hate it too. So I was like 'screw this, I"m breaking up with you word. I'm moving on to Pages. Or Open Office." More epic fails on my end those two programs were worse.
So now I've been trying to find a way to make editable PDF files without giving Adobe any more of my hard earned money. I don't have the money to spend on any additional Adobe products. This has also proven to be next to impossible.
So i have a few designs planned and in the process of becoming up coming designs. One is a baby bingo chalkboard design. 20 different cards are included in the design with actual images for items. That one I'm pretty excited about. It will probably be up later this week. I'm posting a very small preview below. I just have to get more images ready for it before I can put it up on Etsy.
So I haven't fallen of the face of the planet yet for any of those wondering. Just been busy with driving for Uber, visiting family and creating more designs.
